Abstractals

Wow. What a fantastic discovery this film was. I was expecting typical foreign indie quirk, but this film actually delivers something far more real and powerful. Think 'Stranger than Fiction' sprinkled with a dash of 'Adaptation'. I can say that I rarely experience films that so honestly and effectively invite the viewer into the depth and complexity of a fantasy-prone character's interior life. If you're okay with subtitles, and are interested in a well-developed character working through her own fear and self-doubt with elegance and imagination, this film might be for you. I will definitely be checking out 'Oslo, 31. August' and 'Louder than Bombs'.
